Introduction
The Data Management Plan (DMP) is a key element of good data management. The DMP describes the data management life cycle for the data to be collected, processed and/or generated. The DMP is a required part of European and French grants, and is an important part of the global effort by the research community to make research data findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable (FAIR). In general, the DMP includes a description of:
- The handling of research data during & after the end of the project
- What data will be collected, processed and/or generated
- Which methodology & standards will be applied
- Whether data will be shared/made open access and
- How data will be curated & preserved (including after the end of the project)
Data Management Policy
The Paris Brain Institute requires a DMP to be formulated for each research project as part of its Data Management Policy and placed in the dedicated ICM area on the OPIDoR platform.
OPIDoR-ICM
OPIDoR is a machine-actionable platform for creating and maintaining DMPs, compliant with the European Commission and ANR requirements. OPIDoR is developed by Inist-CNRS, a service unit of the CNRS, and includes a working group at ICM that maintains the templates based on feedback from researchers and platforms. The OPIDoR-ICM framework is prefilled with descriptions, examples and explanations adapted to the Neuroscience field and the institute’s Data Managment Policy.
Getting started
You can find a step-by-step description on how to register on OPIDoR and access the OPIDoR-ICM template here.
We are here to help!
Creating a DMP can seem a daunting task, but we are here to help. Please contact us at our DMP email to plan a meeting with our data management team.
Training
We provide regular training “How to prepare your Data Management Plan (DMP)”. Taking the course is highly recommended before you start your resarch project, or before you start writing your grant application.
